WE'RE FINISHED!!!

Here is some proof that we have officially graduated with a certificate from language school.

Grad was yesterday and it felt so good to realized we are completely done here. We are going to miss friends, and the fact of not having any commitments other than study and family, but we are also very excited to move on from here. I sit here at the guesthouse on campus writing, and relaxing, while LeRoy is at the house doing the last minute cleaning up and packing of the van. We are hoping to leave by 8 in the morning for a full day of driving. Depending how the girls handle the drive will determine where and when we stop for night. We have no set destinations yet, other than Watertown in South Dakota for our last night. We want to be there before supper, so we can all enjoy their kid friendly pool area at the Holiday Inn. We've booked it, so we better be there on time on Tuesday.

Yesterday morning, during the girls' last morning at daycare, Brooklyn (and us) had a bit of a special surprise. We knew they were having a last day party, to say goodbye to all the kids. They told LeRoy that I could come at break time for some cupcakes, so I told Tara to come with me too. It turned out that they had a bit of a birthday party for Brooklyn, since she has to leave before her birthday in 2 weeks. So here are some pics from that.

Highchair kids: Emma and Micamac (his knickname)
Second row: John, Elisabeth, Carlos

Prayer Letter

We sent out our new prayer letter yesterday. If you would like to receive it and didn't get it, please let us know. We also had some come back to us, so if you normally do get them and didn't yesterday please let us know too. Something with our address book when a bit crazy so we're trying to figure it out. Thanks for the help.

Emma Ate Meat?

This is almost a miracle already with our picky eater Emma. But finally, after many many weeks without eating any meat, she did it. It only worked because she was finally willing to try and use a fork. So she was so proud of herself for getting the food to her mouth she forgot to spit it out. Maybe this means our food battle with her will slowly get better.

Today, after our exam, we have been packing and cleaning ALL day. Except for a very short nap to regain energy. My kitchen has been half emptied, and our office is a mess as it seems that everything that needs to be packed is ending up there. It's very nice that we can pack pretty much everything for Mexico, since we're only bringing what we really need for 2 months home to Canada, which is pretty much only clothes. So our final days here have come and we are getting more and more excited to being home and able to visit all of you. We can now say that we'll see some of you NEXT WEEK!!!! We plan on making it home (to my parents) next Wednesday and take a couple days to rest up, relax, and spend time with them. So we have 2 more exams, 3 more days of daycare, grad rehearsal Thursday morning, grad Thursday evening, a final day of cleaning and such on Friday, and then Saturday morning we will be Canada bound. WOOHOO!!

Last Day of Class

Today is the day we've been waiting for, to be able to say we are done classes. I just got home from bringing the girls to daycare, to enjoy some quiet time before my last class. Our first 2 classes were canceled cause we had no more to do, and my last class was canceled for the same reason, leaving me with my final class of Latin America. LeRoy has one class after yet where he has to share the gospel with someone in front of the class. So he's preparing for that at the moment.

With all homework done, we were even able to do a bit of packing yesterday, got a few boxes of clothes done that will not be coming home for us. We have decided that it would be much easier to leave everything here that we do not need in Canada for 2-3 months. At first we were going to rent a trailer and bring everything home, but we are excited to not have to do that. Meaning a couple hours less driving per day, and hopefully a more relaxed trip than when we first moved here. Then on our way to Mexico we'll take 2 extra days to swing by here to pick up all our stuff. It will not be fun at that time, but for now it's a great plan.

Brooklyn is even showing her excitement to see grandparents, uncles, aunt, and a certain few of her friends that all of a sudden she is talking about and connecting with Steinbach. Yesterday when we were going through her clothes we found a pair of work gloves that were given to her when she was born. When I told her maybe we could bring them to Canada to help her grandmas with the flowers and in the garden, she was extremely excited. We know she'll miss her friends and her home here, but we don't think she's going to be greatly affected by not being here. She is very much looking forward to going on this big trip to see everybody, and then to go to Mexico. She loves looking at a map as to see where we'll be living. It helps hearing her excitement, but also scary because that means she completely trusts us with her life and future. Or she really does have that child like faith in God and knows He is always with her.

Temperature Correction - HAHA

LeRoy just put our thermometer actually out in the sun to see what it would say, it's usually in the shade. Well, it didn't only hit 40 degrees, it apparently hit 55 in the sun with no wind. Needless to say we're trying to keep the kids inside right now.

IT'S TOO HOT!!!

For me it's too hot. After naps today we took the girls swimming to the local outdoor swimming pool to cool off for about an hour. When we got home we checked out the temperature and it actually hit 40 degrees. That is a first for this year I think, and I'm sure it won't cool down much at all before we leave. So I guess I can, without any hesitation, pack up our "winter" clothes. Speaking of packing, we should probably slowly start so we don't have to rush through any part of it. Tomorrow we begin our final week of classes, so a much slower week with homework, and then next we have 3 exams, and then graduation.

This week we also have our class chapel. Every second semester class is in charge of planning and putting on one chapel service. So this Tuesday is our turn. LeRoy will be announcing when it's time to take the offering and who we want to remember in prayer. Then I will actually be saying the prayer. Yes all in Spanish of course, but we do have it all written out. We're not quite comfortable doing that without something prepared. At least not as a first time.

On another note, we are wanting to send out our next prayer letter this coming week. So if any of you do not receive our letter already, and would like to, please feel free to let us know. Have a great ending to your weekend.

Steep Downhill From Here

Yes that's right, one week of classes left, and 2 weeks until our last night here before taking the 4-5 day drive home. Many emotions make a very full crazy filled mind. Mostly excitement is running through my mind being able to be home again with all of you. But also lots of fears for moving to a new country.

We have already started sorting through many papers, weaning out what we need to keep while looking for 3 out of 4 of our birth certificates we can't seem to find. So it is looking like we'll have to start the process of getting new ones, and hopefully that doesn't put our other paperwork behind that needs to get ready for Mexico, as that paperwork was going to be started this week. That has made for a very frustrating week, but thankfully we're not worried about it. For me it's more the fact that I don't know where they are. If we have to get new ones..that's fine. Yes it's a hassle and cost, but not a huge big deal in the long run. But...where are they? I never lose nothing...just ask LeRoy.

Well, the girls are in bed, and we're off to a friend's place for a movie. LeRoy to a house across campus with the guys for X-Men, and me next door for a chick flick. Don't worry, we don't leave the girls completely alone, I have the monitor with me:)

Trip to Mexico

I, LeRoy, went to Reynosa, MX yesterday. We left after lunch and were back by early evening. I was just along for the ride, but a friend of mine has made some connections with a Mexican doctor who does medical outreach as well as with a fellow named Hector, who runs a homeless shelter.

It ended up being quite the experience. I was surprised to see how many people were wearing masks. Even the waiters at the restaurant. We brought a bunch of clothes to the pastor of the church where we had visited about a month ago (which I guess technically isn't allowed), and I was able to visit with him for a while and hear him share some of his joys and concerns. We also dropped off a water system for Dr. Reyna. These systems are amazing! Basically you take a litre of water and 1Tablespoon of salt, run it through the filter, and it makes enough chlorine and other stuff to purify 2000 gal of water.

Next we went to Hector's ministry. Wow, he has quite a story of what God has done in his life! He takes in immigrants and gives them a place to sleep and relax for 3 days, after that they have to be doing Bible study, look for work etc. They have church service every day. While I was there, I saw a bunch of people sitting, reading the Bible by themselves or in groups. We brought them a few boxes of experiencing God books/workbooks. We heard that the ladies of the group had been fasting and praying for them to come.

A side note to all of this. Hector said their water pump was broken so one of the guys with some fixing skill went to take a look. Well, it was beyond a simple fix, but when he got home he was talking to a plumber friend that decided to donate a brand new pump for them. So this evening one of the guys was going to run it across for them. Isn't it amazing how the Lord moves and works?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEROY!!!!

Today is LeRoy's 28th birthday!!!! I have to say I am very thankful he's part of my life. He's such a great daddy and husband, and willing to continually work on becoming even better in his roles. Thanks to friends of ours, we're able to celebrate today without the girls. I'm taking him out for supper, and we don't have to rush eating or make sure we're back at certain time. I'm thinking there'll still be homework to get done tonight, but we'll take it as it comes. We can eat a meal without worrying about food being thrown on the floor, or someone screaming cause they don't want to eat. Maybe it's more of a treat for me that it's his birthday. haha

What Are We Up To?

The last couple days have felt more crazy again, trying to have the computer between the two of us to do homework, so not much "fun" time can be found on here. All day Sunday LeRoy was working on our prayer card, trying to get it ready to send to the print shop here on campus. Hopefully that can happen this week, so we for sure have them before leaving here and we're ready to hand them out.

Yesterday was our day to kidnap a teacher (2 actually) and do something without giving any warning to anybody that we wouldn't be in our classes. It was a great day to enjoy with the whole class and families. We went for breakfast at iHop and then spent the day at the....beach. What else would we do around here? Brooklyn was quite excited in the morning when I gave her the option of going to daycare or the beach.

And tonight is our grad supper put on by the first semester class. All we know is that we have to be there ready to begin at 5:00 sharp. There is a program after as well, but it's all a surprise I guess.

And one more thing before studying begins today....Emma finally has her fourth tooth. YAY!!!! And this one came with no signs or symptoms which was a very nice surprise. Have a great week:)

This Week

We were privileged to finally meet our fellow missionaries from Mexico this week. They decided they wanted to come see us, meet us, and start getting to know each other. Don & Minna Thiessen (he was our prof at SBC) came along with Alvira Friesen and Elma Janzen and it was a great time of visiting, getting some info on Mexico and the different cities we may live in, and laughter. Plus we all got to go to Olive Garden for supper which was quite a treat for us.

We do know a little more now about where we may be and what we may be doing, so our minds are full of different things running through them. There are two cities that are options for us. We will be in one of them and our great friends Dallas and Tara will be in the other city. It's very nice to know we'll have friends and someone we know at least 2 1/2 hours away. For me, it gives me a bit more peace knowing I will know someone in the country. Someone we will be able to see every now and then. And depending which city we live in, will depend on what we'll be doing. So far now I'll just leave it at that, until we know a little more specifically what will be happening. Plus it'd be hard to explain it all simply in a blog. So when we get home we can maybe talk a bit more about that all, and hopefully we'll be closer to knowing exactly what will be happening.

We are looking forward to another weekend starting tomorrow, and that we can then say only 3 weeks left of classes. It's actually a month today that we will leave RGBI and head for home. YAY!!! I'll try not to mention this in every blog, but it is tempting, as then you can see how excited I must be.

New Pictures

There are some new pictures for you to enjoy of our visit with Jessy, and our holiday in San Antonio, as well as some general photos. Click on the link at the top.

HAPPY EASTER!!!

This weekend has had some moments when it has felt like Easter, but for the most part it has felt like just another weekend. Thankfully it's not all about the feelings but knowing that our Jesus Christ is ALIVE. HE IS RISEN!!! HE IS RISEN INDEED!!!

We were able to enjoy a couple days last week as a family on a short holiday to San Antonio. We had so much fun walking down the River Walk (it's absolutely gorgeous), enjoying a "different" atmosphere for supper at Rainforest Cafe (with a completely jungle feel), playing at the Children's Museum, and relaxing at our hotel. We swam one afternoon, but they had their outdoor pool so cold, even the hot sun couldn't keep us warm which resulted in Brooklyn turning blue she was so cold. I think she was still shivering after a hot bath and ready to go for supper. It was a great break from the normal sites and happenings here, but we were ready to come back after 2 days. It's amazing how tiring 2 toddlers can be when they don't have their normal routines of naps and bedtimes.

On the river walk.

Yesterday morning 2 friends here put on an Easter hunt for the kids of the language school. Brooklyn had so much fun looking for these bright plastic eggs that were filled with candy, and Emma just had fun running around shaking them. Then later in the day we were invited to a family gathering..haha..to Dallas & Tara's house.

Something that has caught our attention this Easter, living in another country, is how Good Friday doesn't seem to be too much of a holiday, or at least not nearly like it is at home. Stores and restaurants are all still open. Churches have services in the evening, after people are finished work. It's a new concept for us, and makes us think about why we do the things we do in the manner that we do them.

HAPPY EASTER TO YOU ALL AND WE'LL SEE YOU IN 6 WEEKS (or less for some of you)

2 More Sleeps

We are so excited to be finally going on a short holiday this Wednesday to Friday. We will be heading to San Antonio to relax and see some new sites. Well, relax as much as possible with 2 toddlers. But we are mostly just excited to get away from here, see something new, and spend time as a family with no other distractions. Since moving here, the farthest we've been is the beach, which is lots of fun, but only 1 1/2 hours away. We need something different, before all the packing and last of the studying begins. Before we come home and see how busy we could be seeing everybody we want to see while preparing for what's ahead. Right now it feels like life is full of excitement as we look ahead as to what is all coming. It's extremely hard to focus on studying, which is why I'm writing here instead of brainstorming for my next paper. We have 5 weeks and 2 days until we graduate, which means about 6 1/2 weeks and we'll be in Manitoba. YAY!!!! Time has really flown by, and sometimes it doesn't feel like we've been here this long. But I know once we hit the Canadian border, it'll hit me a lot more how much I really miss home. And I really hope that water is all gone by the time we come through.

HUGE ANSWERED PRAYER

God is so Good and today we heard amazing news from our friends back home. Some of you know Jake and Ruth Giesbrecht and their long battle to keep their foster daughter in their home. Today they were told that Mary is to remain in their home. A huge answer to prayer. Thank you to all of you who prayed for them. They felt all the prayers, and were quite at peace throughout this process. Now they can breathe freely once again, without the fear of their daughter being taken away. Praise God!!!

The Girls

Here is 2 videos of the girls. When you're done watching to first one, just click next on the bottom right of the card thing. The one video is of Emma, learning to stand up in the middle of the room a few weeks ago, and of her today walking. As of 2 days ago, she's walking everywhere. We're very excited for her. The other video is of Brooklyn and her friend Carter keeping cool on these hot days. Also taken today, in his pool he shares with her. Enjoy!!!

Jessy Was Here

This week we were excited to have our friend Jessy out for a few days. She's a mutual friend of ours and Dallas and Tara's so we all hung out a lot together. We left the studies alone for a couple days, other than classes, and had lots of fun. We went to a Mexican restaurant close by, us girls went for pedicures (at WalMart, but still fun), and yesterday we spent the day at the beach. We checked out the weather before hand, and saw it would be a perfect day. It started off cool and windy, but quickly turned hot. We thought we took enough precautions, but apparently it wasn't enough. We all (except the kids for the most part) burned, and got either a little bit of sun stroke, or very sick with it. Dallas got the worst end of the sun stroke, and Jessy got the worst burn. She could hardly walk this morning before heading to the airport. Poor little Jessy. Hope you're hanging in there:) I realized I didn't get too many pics of this week, so I'll have to grab more from Tara yet. But here is one of Jessy with Emma. The girls loved having her here, another person to get attention from.

Trip to Reynosa

Well, it's been two weeks since I went across the border to Reynosa, Mexico. It was quite an experience, and it takes some time to digest it all. Heading across the border was no problem, although coming back took like 2hrs waiting in line. We knew going into the whole thing that the violence was something to be wary of, but I felt at peace crossing, as did Faith back at home. We drove to one of the poorest areas of town to run a medical clinic at a little church that could maybe seat 50people. The thing that I was interested in being involved in was inviting people to come visit the med. clinic, as well as giving opportunies to hear the gospel. So I spent the majority of my time with Sarge, a fellow language student, and Sal, a bilingual speaker from a church here in McAllen. We would walk up and down the street inviting people, handing out tracks, praying with people... It was something i've never experienced before. I learned a lot from the 2 men I was with. There was one time when me and Sal were going to bypass a group of young guys sitting around on the street corner drinking. We thought that with all the shootings and violence and stuff, we'd just let them be. But Sarge came up to us and said that he didn't care what was going on, he wasn't afraid, after all, they needed to hear the gospel as much as anyone. It led to him having a great conversation with them, and the Lord is protector, we were safe the whole time we were there. There is so much more... the whole day was a little chaotic, unorganized, but people were helped, and many people heard the gospel. Pray that the little church "Roca Eterna" will follow up on these contacts. And thanks for praying for me while I was gone.

Too Funny!!!

This afternoon, I was working on the computer with homework, and started to Skype chat with Tara. It's great having good friends as neighbors. But as we were chatting we just had to laugh as I said, "and here we are sitting 3 feet away from each other chatting on the computer". You see, we share a wall between our apartments, and our computers are in the same corner along that wall. So, apparently talking outside later on in the day isn't enough, we need to start early on the computer. haha

And now for Emma. She is slowly trying to talk more and more, and yesterday she had a new word when we picked her up from daycare...juice. So now she's up to about 10 words...we think. She also loves playing with water so today I decided, since it's so hot out, to sit her outside with a big bowl of water that she could splash with. She loved it, and it helped give us a few minutes to do homework and visit with friends...yes, visit with Tara again. haha Emma also has seemed to discover a few more holes in her face. At supper today we caught her doing strange things with her eyes (like trying to look in different directions or something, not quite sure) and poking herself in the eye while her eye was open. Ouch, but she just smiled and giggled. And she loves to sit with her finger up her nose. haha I love it when kids discover the most basic things, that make us look at the same things a little differently....Why did God give us 2 nostrils? Life is fun with a 1 year old.

What's New?

Well, we are still here, and hanging on to the fact that we're almost done school. I've heard the last few days of a few people actually counting down the days. So I know there are about 51 days until we graduate. WOOHOO!!!! We are extremely ready to be done studying. But the big projects of these days are the papers, and they seem to be slowly coming along. And I don't feel as down about them which helps tremendously for thoughts to come. We have to be okay with the fact that we are writing papers like elementary students in their native tongues. Once you're okay with that, it's all okay.

We had our first real embarrassing moments as parents the other day in WalMart. We were paying for our groceries when Brooklyn turned around and said "look at that big huge man". We felt horrible, and thankfully we don't think he heard, but still. To her she said nothing wrong, she was just saying what she thought. Innocense.

Emma FINALLY cut her third tooth yesterday. I was starting to get worried as for months we could see something should be coming, but no evidence to show. The past few weeks they've slowly moved down, off and on pain, but nothing. Finally this past week she was definitely more uncomfortable, needing more pain meds. And then yesterday I saw it and we were very excited. We are hoping and praying for her sake, that the other 3 (at least) come through in the next few days. Then maybe she can have a break from it.

Today is Sunday, our day of rest, relaxation, naps, and NO HOMEWORK!!! We are excited to be going back to church tonight to watch a puppet show put on by a group from our school called Luz Oscuro (Black Light puppet show). We've heard it's a really cool show.

Weekend Excitment & More Blessings

Just to warn you, this is a long post. It was time that we did something different and new as a family with friends. So we had a weekend full of excitement. By the end of it we were feeling exhausted and had wished it somehow could have been spread over a few weekends, but it was still such a great weekend. It started with going out to a rodeo (which really wasn't that much fun, but the kids loved playing together), and then for ice cream after to let the kids play while we could actually visit. This was Saturday evening.

Brooklyn watching some horses run with friends Hannah & Josiah

Sunday we headed over to Borderfest, which is a huge multi-cultural festival and carnival, with Dallas & Tara and their boys. We had been there about 20 mins, were sitting and waiting for a steel drums show to start, and had not seen anything else when I told LeRoy...this was already worth the money we were spending, to be able to get away from campus, and to do something fun. We watched a couple shows, even a Pirate diving show (one guy jumped from 80 feet but has the world record of 172 feet), and enjoyed a few rides. Brooklyn loved being able to have Carter to share the rides with, otherwise she'd have screamed the whole time. And surprisingly Emma did extremely well considering we only left from there 3 hours after her bedtime. It's always more fun when the kids enjoy themselves too.

Looking at the World Famous Budweiser Clydesdales. They were HUGE.

Fun on the rides

The 80 foot jump into a pool.

Guys on stilts playing music. Something I will never attempt.

Emma and Logan hanging out

Then Monday came and back to classes. But, we had already planned that we were going to Chuck e Cheese with whoever wanted to join us. I felt like a kid again with memories coming back from when I was a kid. And I got to enjoy the other 3 in the family have their first experience. We could not keep up with Brooklyn, but thankfully they have a security system where parents and kids are invisibly stamped with the same number, so she couldn't have left without us. So, needless to say, we did not have to worry. Even Emma had a blast joining her sister on some rides, and playing in the play structure. There were even some games for little kids that Brooklyn was able to play. We'll be going back there before heading north.

Emma playing with her friend Daniel

One of the many rides. Emma is watching the t.v. that's on in there.

This week there is a group of about 66 high school students here on campus, doing whatever needs doing, and offering their services. So to our surprise we had our whole house cleaned (hasn't been cleaner since we moved in) while we were at class. That was a huge blessing for us this week, as now we don't have to think of that, and can rather try and do more homework.

I have to say too, Tara is such a great neighbour and friend, that now as she isn't taking class, she says she has nothing better to do than make us supper. Yesterday she blessed us with soup, to save us some time. Thanks again Tara:)

And another surprise was that my parents told us to order something for supper tomorrow, and they'd cover it. Another meal we don't have to think of preparing. It is a week we are feeling blessed by many people.

Okay this is long enough. Sorry, but there was lots to say, and actually had a few moments. I'm hoping to post more pics of our past weekend on our pictures site soon, so you can just keep checking there.

Another Update on Becky

Becky had her first chemo treatment last Friday. She had a severe reaction to it and they had to keep her at the hospital 3 extra hours giving her additional IV medications to try and offset the vomiting. We were there from 10am to 7pm. Because of all of the medication, she slept most of Friday night, all day Saturday, and Saturday night. The doctor also prescribed another medication to be taken at home because of her reaction. Starting Sunday, this new medication started causing her problems of restlessness both in body and mind. She did not sleep very much at all on Sunday or Monday (day or night). She also has not eaten very much at all since Friday, maybe the equivalence of 4 or 5 meals total!

We returned to the cancer doctor yesterday and he took her off of the medication that was causing problems and put her on a new one that is similar to valium. He is hoping that if she can get caught up on sleep her appetite will return. She lost 5 more lbs between last Tuesday and yesterday. She only ate ½ of 1 sandwich yesterday. The new medicine did help her sleep all afternoon and last night. As a matter of fact, she is still sleeping this morning.

We have chemo scheduled again for tomorrow, Thursday.

Please pray for the following requests:

  1. Her reaction to chemo will not be as severe this week.
  2. Her appetite will return and she will start eating better.
  3. Her pain will subside (she is hurting where she had surgery due to the vomiting).
  4. She will be able to rest and get back on a normal sleep schedule (for both of us!).
  5. That I will be able to endure. I am exhausted.
  6. For our relationship that has been severely strained over the last 2 months.
  7. For my relationship with the LORD. I have struggled spiritually since this started 2 months ago.

Keep praying!

Your Arms

I just got back from a much needed walk, by myself, listening to music. I was going to blog about our exciting weekend and post some pics, but that will have to wait one more day, at least, because I want to share some lyrics I just came across. I found them very encouraging, and a great reminder that I tend to forget too many times. It's too easy to find hope and strength in other sources than from God. This is a song sung by By the Tree (not sure if they wrote it).

Your Arms

When surrounded by my doubts
Here am I turning inside out
I remember my confidence
It comes from you
This I can depend on

My hope
It comes from you
My strength
Is found in you
When I'm lost
I come running to your arms
And I'm found
I'm found in you

Far beyond these thoughts I feel
Something greater I hold on to
It lifts me up to a higher place
To your arms I will fly away

And you hold me just a little longer
Till my fears subside
And take away the lonely pain
Till my tears run dry
You let me know forever more
Your arms are open wide for me

My hope
It comes from you
My strength
Is found in you

Are We Done Yet?

What a week it has been. I think life somehow got twice as busy within our house and family this past week...if that's even possible. We don't really know what it was, or still is, but we seemed to have even less time for homework, the girls were driving us (mostly me) nuts, and I was extremely tired. We're thinking maybe it's partly because we are sick of studying, and it's the time of year that people seem to be more down about life. Or it's the fact that we now have to write Spanish papers and I am really struggling with it. I have a hard time writing in English (I have horrible grammar) never mind think and write in another language I don't know extremely well yet. At the moment we're working on our testimonies, and then need to start working on our next paper focusing on a specific lifetime experience we've had. These papers have to be 3 pages long, and read in front of class. Reading it is the easy part. A few times I have been near tears trying to write my thoughts out, and it just is not coming. But I will press on, knowing this is a step I am supposed to take, and knowing that people are praying for me.

This evening we went with some friends to a local rodeo that happens every week, and were disappointed. It was more like a practice time that anyone could come watch, the same thing over and over again for about an hour. So we left and went for ice cream instead to let the kids play. So hopefully with the girls being up late, and the time change tonight it all works out for us in the morning, and nobody is grumpy cause of lack of sleep. Well, I better be honest. If anyone will be grumpy it'll be me. I am not a morning person like Brooklyn and Emma. Some mornings....UGH!! They never stop talking. haha

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow after naptime. We found out about this BorderFest...www.myborderfest.com...with tons of music, shows, carnival, parade, etc. We are going to head out there with Dallas and Tara and enjoy getting away from campus with familiar friends. I'm sure it'll be another late night and full of fun.

All week there were moments either in class, here at home with the girls, or in chapel (I actually understood almost a whole chapel service this week, and it was full of jokes. YAY!!) when I thought, "I need to blog about this". But now when I have time to sit and write, I can't remember any of it. It really annoys me. Oh well, what can I do other than wait for another lightbulb moment to share with you all. Hope you all have a great night:)

Becky's Letter

Dear Wonderful Friends and Family,

I have received the results from my PET scan (full body) and CT scan of my brain. God has heard the cries of our heart and the tests came back CLEAR! That means NO MORE CANCER for me! Woo Hoo! The CT scan did reveal a cyst at the base of my brain, but my doctor told me not to worry, so I’m not going to. I will be starting 16 weeks of chemotherapy on Friday, my birthday! J This will be strong due to the type of cancer I had. I am still in some pain from the lung surgery and the chemo port implant, but I am feeling stronger each day and look forward to stronger days in my future.

Words can not express how much I appreciate all the love that has been shown to me during the last 6 weeks. Your prayers and concern for me has given me strength and comfort. I am overwhelmed by the cards, e-mail and gifts that I have received from many of you. Thank you for taking care of my family, also.

I told God that HE would receive all the glory in this situation, no matter the outcome, so I ask you to join me in giving HIM the glory for my health and the good report we received from the scan. Please continue to pray for me and my family as I begin the chemo treatments. It will be a long 16 weeks, but I know I can make it with God’s strength and the love and care of each of you.

God is Good!

Love, Becky

God is Good

A quick update on Becky is that her PET scan results came back saying there is no more cancer. Praise the Lord. She will begin chemo on Friday to make sure all the cells from the cancer that was taken out is gone. Thank you all for praying for our friend. If she emails us another update, I will post that so you can hear it from her.

Another Family Date

Yesterday was a lonely day here for us, wanting to be with family, more familiar friends, and our home church. So we decided we needed to get out of the house for a bit, which means it was time for a family date. For supper we enjoyed trying out iHop for the first time. We enjoyed having breakfast for supper, and would gladly go back some time.

On our way home we took a different way home (we like driving), and passed by a Barnes & Noble bookstore. We decided to stop and take a look, as long as the girls were still happy. It turned out that we may have to go again. Brooklyn absolutely loved looking in the kids section with chairs, tables, and so many books....she looked like she was on cloud 9. She would take a book, look at it for awhile, put it back, take another one....and so on. It almost looks like the kids section is treated like a library, without the part of borrowing books. So we now have another idea of how to spend time together or by ourselves, depending on who of us has the girls while the other one actually looks at something we'd like to look at.

Winter is Gone

Thank goodness it is Friday, it's time for a break. This week LeRoy and I have felt more discouraged again with our Spanish, and yet encourage by others at the same time. There have seemed to more occasions where we think we understand something, only to later find out we were way off. But I figure we need weeks like these so the rest of the time we feel better about our language. The encouragement for me came yesterday. We decided to have LeRoy's tutor over for supper. I just remembered we forgot to take a picture like we wanted too. Shucks. Anyway, we were talking...yes in Spanish... and he told me that I had a really good Mexican accent, and I could pass for a Mexican. I was pumped, so I hope he wasn't just trying to suck up to his friend's wife. But it is always encouraging to get compliments on how we speak, from native Spanish speakers. That's when we know what we are learning is sticking in our brains, and can communicate a lot of what we want to say. Mostly anyway.

Now for the winter gone issue. If we actually did have any winter here, it now is apparently gone. This has been a very warm week, and yesterday it reached 30 degrees. And we knew today was supposed to be the same but I was not prepared for how penetrating the sun's heat feels today. I was hanging laundry out at lunch, and I could feel my skin turning colors. I seriously got my arms tanned in about 15 mins, and I think Emma may have a slight burn on her face too. I was not expecting this heat to come back so fast, but we all think it's here to stay. So there's a slight chance the beach will be seeing more of us in the next few months before we leave. It may be the only way to stay cool here.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, even if you have to stay inside to keep warm. And for all of those wishing you could be in this weather, I'd gladly switch places with you. Yesterday I could even hear the crunch of snow in my memories and I wanted it to be real so bad.

Another Update from Becky

First of all, we want to again say thanks to everyone who has prayed for us, sent us encouraging letters and cards, sent financial gifts to help with our medical expenses, and to those that have called or come by for visits. You are each very special to us and we have felt your prayers and support. I wish we could thank each one of you individually, but the list is so large that there is not enough time with everything we have on our plate right now.

Becky and I visited the cancer doctor today for the first time since we saw him in the hospital. We had a good discussion about what has been found and what still needs to be investigated. The tumor board is a group of doctors that meet to discuss unusual cases of cancer. The meeting today included our local oncologists, an oncologist from San Antonio, the pathologist that studied the cancer, and our internal medicine/primary care doctor. The reviewed all of the results from the x-rays, CT scans, surgical reports, laboratory reports, and pathology reports. They also discussed the most appropriate course of action and treatment.

We were informed that “the margins were clear”, which indicates that the areas around the surgical incisions were free of cancer cells. This indicates that no more surgery will be needed in this area of the lung at this time. However, we were also told that after further study, it has been determined that Becky actually had 3 tumors removed, not just 1. Based on this finding and the other available information from the reports and studies, the general consensus of the tumor board is that Becky cancer is stage 3B. There are still more test to be performed and the results of these test will help clarify the stage even more. The possible stages are 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, and 4 with the severity rising as the numbers rise. With that said, the following is our next series of steps:

  1. Tomorrow, 2/25, Becky will have a CT of the brain. This type of cancer commonly spreads to the liver, bones, or brain and they want to rule this possibility out and have a baseline CT for future comparison.
  2. Also tomorrow, we will meet with the surgeon to schedule outpatient surgery as soon as possible to have a chemo port inserted into Becky’s chest for the upcoming treatments.
  3. On Friday, 2/27, Becky will have a PET scan performed that will check the rest of her body for cancer.
  4. On Tuesday, 3/3, we will return to the oncologist to be given the results of the CT and PET scans.

The results of these two scans will determine the final course of treatment. If both are negative for cancer, we will proceed with chemotherapy and will be treated as 3B cancer. The chemo will most like start later next week after our Tuesday appointment. If either of the tests returns a positive result, the cancer is automatically stage 4 and other treatments such as additional surgeries could be required.

Becky and I want everyone to know that we still have a peace about our situation. Becky especially wanted me to let everyone know that she still has hope and is determined to fight the cancer and that her faith has not been diminished by the information we received today. She asks that everyone pray for her as she undergoes these tests and the upcoming surgery. Please pray that the tests are negative for more cancer and that she will be able to endure the chemotherapy to the best of her ability.

Also, please pray for me and our children as we help carry this burden both in our hearts and physically day-to-day. I will send out another detailed update after our visit on Tuesday when we have the new results and the final treatment plan.

Becky

The following is an update on Becky, that she herself wrote. It will give you an idea of how she is doing, and more specifically what to pray for. Thank you all so much for praying for our friend, and she too is thankful for all your prayers. I just talked with her, she looks like she is doing amazing. She is totally at peace, and truly knows God knows why she has this. She believes that God made her with the extra lobe so that she could handle this cancer. One amazing woman with so much faith.

Becky writes:
As most of you know, I have recently had 2 lobes of my right lung removed and was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. I am recovering at home now and the pain from surgery is easing up a little every day. I have heard from many of you letting me know that you are praying for me and have added me to the prayer lists at your church, Bible study, or business. I appreciate all the prayers and have felt the power of them all. My family and I have been blessed by your care, love and support throughout this rough time in our lives. I will be seeing my cancer dr. on Tuesday and would love for you all to join me in these specific prayer requests.

1. Pray that all the cancer was removed during surgery.

2. Pray that I will get much stronger during the next 2 - 3 weeks before my chemo treatment starts.

3. Pray that my viens will be built back up. Many of them were "blown" during my 2 weeks in the hospital, surgery, and arterial blood gas tests.

4. Pray for strength for my family: Husband - Jason, Children - Keith and Rachel ( along with my Parents and sister)

5. Pray that our house in Mississippi will sell quickly. We are still renting in Texas due to our house in MS not selling. (Our land lady told us this week that we have to move by April 1st if we can not sign a contract on this house we are renting from her. We want to buy this house, if it is God's will. We do need a home here on the border even after we move to Mexico.)

6. Pray that I will be able to attend classes again, even off and on. I am in Missionary Language School to learn Spanish. I still have a strong desire to learn the language so Jason and I can move to the Children's Home in Mexico and continue serving there.

7. Pray that many people will hear of my story and learn of God's unfailing grace and love. I want God's Name to be glorified throughout this entire journey.

Thank you all!

I will keep you posted as these requests are answered!
God Bless!

Fun Times

We just enjoyed a great week of no homework and keeping busy while my brother and sister were out for a visit. It was so good to see them after so long, and tons of fun hanging out and watching the girls with them. We did the usual...Mexico, beach, a little shopping, hanging out. But good times always have to come to an end, so they left yesterday early morning.

My brother and sister were able to see something very exciting their last night here.....Emma's first steps. She now realizes that she can walk if she wants to (doesn't want to much), so she has quit her bum skooching days and has started crawling. I'm finding it quite amusing. She, literally, took her first steps and stopped moving around on her bum, but instead crawls everywhere. So here are 2 video's for you of Emma crawling, and her first steps.

We are actually on a week break (sort of). We don't have classes, but do have a conference here on campus that we have to attend, as well as tutors in the afternoon. It sure has been a nice break, but we do hope to get ahead on some homework yet. Soon the load will begin to get even heavier with Spanish papers to write.

Brooklyn is sure making us laugh these days, between the difficult times with her. When a toddler starts talking in full sentences, and tries explaining stories (which we then realize are dreams), anything can make one laugh. A sentence that would be completely normal for an adult sounds hilariously cute coming from such a little mouth. And she has now realized that mommy and Faith are the same person, and daddy and LeRoy are as well. We now know she understands what she is supposed to call us, and what we call each other. So once in awhile she makes it a game and tries to see if we'll answer when she calls our first names. Too cute. Today she also came up with the idea that Emma is a "stinky pumpkin". LeRoy calls Emma pumpkin, and since Emma has stinky diapers, she put the 2 together. If I sat here long enough I'd have too much to say, so I better go. This is long enough anyway. Have a good night:)

Moving of the Spirit...

So, every Wednesday we have a class called Spiritual life. A local pastor comes in and gives a talk about some element of the Christian life. It is during this time that my mind sometimes wanders and I guess I had taken a bit of a bad attitude toward it. It just seemed like such a dry time.

Well, this past Wednesday, I was just thinking about if the Holy Spirit left this 'church' meeting, would anything change? Well, it became very evident to us that the HS was working there that morning. Instead of having a lesson, J.B. shared their experience of finding out that Becky has cancer, for whom many of you have been praying. Thank you! The whole hour was filled with tears, people giving encouragements to J.B., prayer, and hearing what a testimony their family has been through this trying time. How powerful and evident when the Holy Spirit moves!

A short note: Becky is back in the hospital with complications to her lung,... so please continue to keep her in your prayers

Pray for our Friends

We are feeling quite sad and frustrated for our friends Jake and Ruth. Some of you may know them and know the situation they are in. For those of you who don't, they are in the middle of waiting for a final hearing to find out if their 4 year old foster daughter (she's Native) can stay with them, or have to be moved up north onto a Native reserve. Jake and Ruth are not being treated fairly through all of this, and can't say much in case it is turned against them in some form. It has been a long journey for them, they have had her for almost 4 years and have been fighting for her most of the time. We are praying that the final decision will be in their favor and that little Mary will not have to be taken from everything and everyone she knows. The hearing is on March 10. Please pray with us for the next month for God to give His wisdom, peace, and love to all those involved.
The other sad note is that Jake and Ruth (and the kids) were planning a trip down here to see us for next week, but now have had to cancel because of all this. Their lives are being turned upside down until this is all figured out. We just can't believe what is all going on within this situation.

Dates

Sunday we decided to have a family date....at home. Usually the meaning of family date is going shopping. This time we stayed home, made pizzas, and watched Cinderella. Brooklyn had been excited for this day and had been counting down. She absolutely loved having our pizza picnic on the floor, ice cream for dessert and then watching the movie for the first time. She actually sat through the whole thing and loved it. She's into princesses so it was perfect. Even Emma found it quite funny at times, which made it funny for us too.

Yesterday LeRoy and I went on a date by ourselves to celebrate our anniversary that's coming up this Sunday. We were able to enjoy a supper by ourselves and a movie afterward. It was so nice not to have to think of the girls for a few hours, and have adult talk for awhile.

Tomorrow my brother and sister are coming to spend a week with us. We are so excited to see them since it's been 6 1/2 months. They fly here in the evening, but tonight went with my parents to Grand Forks where they fly out of. I sure hope the roads are safe enough for them. It sounds like horrible weather out there. Must be fun being able to skate on the roads. But, I'm happy to say that I'm glad we don't have to face the bad weather today, it was 30 and sunny this afternoon. HOT!!!

Well, I guess I should continue on with homework, since I won't be doing too much over the next week. But next week we don't have classes for a missions conference here, so I should be able to catch up then, and maybe even work ahead. I hope so anyways. Hope you all have a great week:)

Update on Becky

A huge thank you to everyone who prayed for our friend Becky. I mentioned a few days ago that she was going in for lung surgery to remove a spot they found. Thursday afternoon she went into surgery and everything went well. They did find a larger mass (it has been sent off for examination) than they were expecting so they ended up taking more of her lung than expected. As of last night she has extreme pain, they have given her all the pain meds that they can. She has also been able to do everything the doctor is expecting her, like sit in a chair instead of her bed, and do some walking around to keep pressure of her lungs. She continues to be in ICU to make sure no complications arise. Last night she did have some wheezing, so they are watching her carefully. The major complication would be pneumonia so we are praying against that. We ask you continue to keep Jason and Becky in your prayers with us, as she starts recuperating and that Jason will continue to have God's strength that we are seeing in him.

Dramas

Part of our conversation class this semester involves writing and performing dramas each week on a different Bible passage. This was our third week doing this and it has been funny every time so far, putting the story into modern day. Today we had to present our drama on The Good Samaritan. I wish I had my camera, we looked awesome dressed up like a gang to start it off. I know I will remember to bring my camera every Thursday so I have memories of this. But we are videotaping them all so we can all have a copy at the end of the semester. Back to the story of today. We set the story in New York and involving a gang, a young prissy girl, a pastor, some other person, and a mom (that was me portraying the Samaritan). But we started off with three of us dressed like a gang. With the baggy pants, bandannas, and hats, looking all punkish. Apparently I suited the part. The other girls couldn't stop laughing at me. Anyways, we beat up Amy (a girl from Altona) pretty good (she made bruises all over with make-up to add to the story) and stole all she had. We left her there to die. First a pastor comes by and says she isn't part of her congregation so she has know reason to help her. Secondly another person walks by saying she doesn't see anyone capable of helping so she continues on. Then comes me carrying my baby(doll), and drops down to help. I have everything in my diaper bag ready to help, including bandaids of Hannah Montana and High School Musical. Surely those would help her feel better. Then after calling an ambulance (a red wagon) we get her to the hospital where one of the first questions is "do you have insurance?" A common question in the States hospitals. I, being the Samaritan have money to help so I do. It really was so funny, maybe when I get a copy of it I'll even post it for you to all see. Our teacher couldn't stop laughing once again. Especially since we've added some inside joke lines, that we have claimed as "our lines". Anyway, that gives you an idea as to one of our assignments is weekly. It's a lot of work, but also a lot of fun.

Please Pray

As you can see, we have once again changed our blog look. This time it will be more permanent, and modified by LeRoy, with our own picture. We chose this picture because it is a good reminder for us that the Harvest is ready. And I like it because it reminds me of home.

We have a friend here at school who has had some health issues this past month. About a month ago Rebecca had some tests run after some symptoms arrose causing concern. The tests came back clear of anything but they were waiting for one more. But last night she began coughing up more blood, and the bleeding isn't stopping this time. So this morning they did emergency tests and found something in her lungs. This coming Thursday morning she will be having major surgery to remove her upper right lobe of her lung. It is supposed to be a complicated and very painful surgery. Please pray with us for her husband Jason, there 2 kids (ages 17 & 12), and for Rebecca as they are facing this huge storm in their lives.

Birthday Pics

So now it works to get pictures onto here. So here's a few birthday pictures for you to enjoy.

Early in the morning before daycare.

Opening her present from Grandma and Grandpa Siemens.
Like our wrapping job? I wonder what it is?

While we sang to her, she went for the icing, and discovered she loved it. I'm not sure if she even had any of the cake. But the icing on her piece was gone.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMMA!!

Yes our baby turned 1 today. We can't believe it's been a year already. Times seems to be flying by faster and faster. This morning we (Brooklyn and I) woke Emma up with a song, and then hear LeRoy say he needed to stay in bed cause he was sick. So not the greatest way to start the day, but I managed. I got the 3 of us ready for school and daycare, even remembered the cookies for daycare, and off we went. Yesterday I spent the day making cookies and a cake, so I didn't have to do any birthday preparing today. It was all done. So then for supper Dallas, Tara, Carter and Logan all came over for delicious hotdogs, chips, and cake. And presents of course. It was a lot of fun, and thankfully LeRoy felt well enough to celebrate Emma's day for a couple hours. Then once the birthday fun was over, LeRoy and Emma went to bed, and Brooklyn and I joined many friends outside for a bonfire and s'mores. It was such a fun day. I kept looking back and thinking, "what were we doing a year ago?" Remembering the day Emma was born is so much fun, and I do miss her being so little. But at the same time we love seeing the little girl she is becoming.....our doll, our drama queen, our picky eater, our clown....all of it makes our Emma who she is.

Well, pictures aren't able to be loaded, so hopefully tomorrow that'll work.

Blessed

Today we felt blessed by Pat Brandt. That name sounds familiar to some of you, but I'll fill the rest of you in. Dave and Pat Brandt have come here to RGBI to volunteer their time for about 5 weeks. They are from our church in Steinbach. We have had a chance to have them over for coffee, and saying hi as we pass each other throughout our days. It's so nice to see familiar faces from home. Today Pat came by after Brooklyn's nap, and took her for a walk so we had a bit more quiet to study. When Brooklyn came home she said "we fed the fish, i drink pop, and eat ice cream". So I don't thing she'll have a problem going with Mrs. Pat again. She had a great time. And I was able to have an hour more for studying than normal. Thanks Pat.

Brooklyn has now officially asking "why?" So far we're laughing cause it's so cute. Thankfully she gives up after a bit and accepts our short answers. The girls seem to be growing up so fast once again, maybe more so cause Emma turns the big 1 on Friday. So her birthday cake is floating around in my head, as I figure out exactly how I want to decorate it. We're very excited, but maybe this day should be more of a celebration for us. That we made it a whole first year having 2 kids. It definitely is a crazy life, but so much fun. So we will celebrate Emma on Friday, with friends, cake, and a few presents. I'm sure there'll be pics posted this weekend.

Picture Day

Today was a great day for taking pictures of the girls. They were both wearing new outfits from friends, the weather was beautiful, and Emma turns 1 this week, so pictures of her were needed anyways. So here are our girls at 2 1/2 years old, and almost 1. The new Noah's Ark play structure makes a very nice backdrop.

School..Church..Company

We are into our second week of classes, and I think we are doing okay with it. There is more to do, and it's harder with out teachers speaking 95% Spanish. We also feel we have less time for homework. We're not sure if we actually do, or that's just how it feels. The reason for this is because they changed when the tutors work. Instead of having the option for tutors between 1 and 5, it's now only between 1 and 3. So I have tutor at 1, LeRoy goes at 2. Right when the girls nap. Last semester I'd go at 3 and LeRoy at 4, so we could still do most of our studying while the girls napped. Now that study period is gone. It's a new routine we need to get used to. So far I think we're handling it alright, but it somehow means a little less time to ourselves too.

We are quite excited for tomorrow evening. A couple from our church in Steinbach is here for a month volunteering. Tomorrow they are coming over for coffee, and to deliver a couple packages. YAY!!! We were expecting one of them from a friend out there, but we're not sure about the second. So if you're reading, thank you!!! It will be so nice to visit someone from our church, and to catch up with how things are going out there. And for them to hear first hand from us how we're doing.

Along with second semester Conversation class comes the "joys" of writing and performing our own dramas as a small class. In my class there are 3 other ladies and it's a lot of fun with them. Every week we need to write a drama based on the Bible story we study the same week. So tonight we are getting together to, hopefully start and finish, our drama on the Prodigal Son. I think it'll be fun, but I sure hope it doesn't take too long, so I still have time afterwards to study. Life is all about needing more time to study these days.

We have also started going to a new church. We found it over Christmas, and enjoy it much more than our previous church. Both girls are able to, and enjoy, staying in the nursery with other kids, and a few ladies, for the whole service. That means I can actually sit with LeRoy, the whole service, and listen to a Spanish service.

Hope you all have a great week. Only 4 more months till we can see many of you. YAY!!!

Daddy's Girl

When I was a little girl, there was this old country song that was played lots in our house. I loved it because it was about a daddy and his girl, and I definitely have always been a daddy's girl. This became one of my favourite songs and I think almost went into our wedding somewhere. So when Brooklyn was born, it became the song I sang to her in the middle of the night, or whenever she needed calming down. These days when we put her to bed, we are often asked to sing this song, but now it's a duet. She sings along with us. Sometimes I am told to sing it as "Mommy's Girl" instead of "Daddy's Girl", which I am so happy to do. Here are the lyrics. Someday I should maybe change them so they are actually applicable to some things we have done. They are great none the less.

DADDY'S GIRL

I recall the day, that you came into this world
I couldn't believe the doctor, when he said it was a little girl
I said, "oh doc", you must be wrong, you see I want a boy
But then he laid you in my arms, and my heart sank with joy

CHORUS:
Daddy's girl, daddy's girl,
I'm the center, of my daddy's world
I know I'm daddy's number 1,
for he loves me like I was a son
Daddy's girl

I recall the day, I took you on a fishing trip
You said, "Daddy won't that hook, hurt the fishy's lip"
You said, "If they don't get air, those things in the can will die"
So we turned the worms all loose, and chased some butterflies.

CHORUS

I recall the day, I took you to a baseball game
You brought along your baby doll, and all its dolly things
We sat there, playing house while the Dodgers played the Braves
And everyone in the bleachers looked at us as if to say...

CHORUS

I recall the day, that your young man came to call
It feels like only yesterday we swam and played football
But I knew the time would come, when I would set you free
But no matter where you go, you know you'll always be...

CHORUS

You'll always be your daddy's girl.

I love you Dad:):)

Things are going...

Classes have started, as has our studying. Tutors only start next week, so we have a week to get used to this new schedule again, and realize when the best times for studying may be. Brooklyn has decided that she doesn't need as long of an afternoon nap anymore, but because of that she's in bed earlier in the evening. So it kind of all equals out to be much the same amount of study time as last semester. But now more of that study time is at the end of the day when I'm exhausted from everything within the day. I still think I prefer this, a longer quiet evening, even if it's full of studying.

I don't think we feel as overwhelmed by our classes as some others do, maybe we were given a bit more heads up of what to expect from Tara, I'm not sure. LeRoy and I ended up in some of the same classes again, one of which we have the hardest teacher on campus. We are really enjoying him as a teacher already. He's a lot more picky, and actually makes us pay attention to what's going on. Oh, and everything is in Spanish this year. No English allowed. That makes it harder on its own, never mind more homework. I do have to say, so far I am enjoying it. Once tutors start next week, I may say differently. I enjoyed having tutors last semester, but for me it adds another stress. I have to figure out what I want to do or study with her, 4 days a week, for an hour, in Spanish. I like having my afternoons all to myself, to do whatever I feel like doing, or need to get done. Sometimes tutor hour feels like I have to entertain, but not always. Some of the girls are tons of fun, and we can go through our hour by just chatting.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!!!!! My baby sister turned 18 today, and got to stay home from school cause it was so cold. This morning I was thinking how cold I was, I could hardly get out of bed. Then I saw how cold it was there, and wishing I could be colder. It was only 10 degrees here, but it feels very different than the Manitoba 10 degrees.

My dialog is calling me, so while it's quiet here for a few moments (the others are enjoying the weather), I better study it. Never know how our evening will go. But I sure hope it'll be quiet for studying. Have a great week.

Tomorrow is the Day

Well, tomorrow we head back to school. Except we don't really have to do anything tomorrow, except really start to study. Our semester starts off heavy, heavier than the last semester ended. Or so that's what it looks like so far. I think we are ready to begin once again, before we lose more of our Spanish. Brooklyn is very excited to go back to daycare tomorrow, and finally play with kids. We'll see how excited she is when she's woken up almost an hour earlier than this past month. Emma is, of course, oblivious to all of this.

But, Emma did start moving around on her stomach yesterday, which kind of resembles crawling.....she's at least on her tummy moving forward. And she does this cute thing, shaking her head so hard, while getting her right arm right in the action too. Kind of like those action figures where you hit a button to make their head and arms move. That's what Emma looks like. Very funny. Have not yet been able to get in on video.

I have a feeling we may not be able to blog quite as much with school starting again, but please keep checking back. You never know, we may just use this as our excuse for a break from homework. Or maybe we should start practicing our Spanish on here......or not. Have a great week to you all:)

Scatter Brained

I really have wanted to write something this whole week, but every time I sit down to write, my mind goes blank. So this post may be all over the place. This has been a week with very quick ups and downs, and a couple "plain old grumpy days". Those are bound to happen sometimes, and this was the week for it. LeRoy's family left early Tuesday morning which left us to an empty house once again. It has been lonely, but also good to have our house quieter again. We had a wonderful time with his family, doing the tourist stuff, and hanging out. Thankfully after a long flight, a long drive, a flat tire in -40, all within 24hrs, they made it home safely.

This week has mostly been full of doing a good cleaning before classes begin again. We have also begun homework to try and get ahead a little. I'm hoping to get more done before Monday, but we'll see what all comes up.

The other day we were driving down the street, and we suddenly notice the van in front of us. THEY WERE FROM STEINBACH. I was so excited, as I get extremely excited every time I see someone from Manitoba, never mind Steinbach. And last night when we went out for ice cream, LeRoy was wearing his Flames hat of course. The couple standing behind us asked "are you really a Flames fan"? Of course we are. It turns out they live in Calgary, but he is originally from Winnipeg, and had been to Steinbach tons for Derksen Printers. It's amazing what little seeing little connections like that can do. It brings a little from home to us, even if it's just seeing a vehicle from there.

Brooklyn and Emma have grown up so much over the past month of holidays. Emma's changes seemed to be very sudden. The day after LeRoy's family left, she all of a sudden decided she was going to learn to move around. If you haven't seen the video yet, check my post a couple days ago. It shows how she moves around, on her butt. It's cute, and we're excited that she finally learned this development. Yesterday she decided maybe she should try to walk holding onto furniture. So she made her way slowly along our couch. She is still her joyful, sensitive self, and she loves having a big sister to copy. Brooklyn is a trying, strong-willed child, testing us every day. Of course, she's 2. She started with this much later than most 2 year olds, from what I have heard. Screaming tantrums (only sometimes), and talking back (lots of the time) are part of our days. She is also a sensitive girl, very quick to pick up different emotions we may be showing, and quick to try and make everything better. I think she will be very excited to get back to daycare as she has played with other kids (other than Emma) for 4 weeks. It's time.

This morning Brooklyn was talking about Carter, of course, and asking if he was back yet. Again I had to tell her he was still far away, but soon he'd be back. She went on playing, but then came back holding her doll wrapped in its blanket. Then she looked at me and said, "my baby is Logan", with the biggest smile. She is very excited to meet Carter's baby brother Logan.

School starts for us on Monday with a low key registration day, and then full throttle on Tuesday. I'm scared as I have really loved this past month without the stress of school. By the end of last semester it felt like I had found a way not to stress with the homework, and just balance everything. I'm scared now to start over again, in a way, especially knowing this semester is supposed to be twice the work. Please pray with me, that I will learn quickly how to balance everything again, and enjoy it all at the same time.

Today is a cloudy day, still suppose to reach a high of 27, a comfortable day. It feels like it's going to be relaxed, maybe I'll even do some baking. Tonight we are going to some friends' place for supper, which will be a nice change. Hope you all have a great day and weekend.
